Basketball Recap: Mount Paran Christian Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Mount Paran Christian and Holy Innocents Episcopal squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mount Paran Christian had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Holy Innocents Episcopal Golden Bears, falling 84-42. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Golden Bears are ranked seventh).

Mount Paran Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cameron Hewling, who posted ten points and five rebounds. Asher Wills was another key player, putting up five points.

Caleb Wilson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Holy Innocents Episcopal, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards. The contest was Wilson's third in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Devin Hutcherson, who shot 64% from the field on his way to 17 points.

The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points over those games.
