Baseball Recap: Caleb Deleon Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Calhoun

Jones's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Calhoun Sandcrabs a 2-0 shutout. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 victory the Sandcrabs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The result came thanks to Tyler Lang's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Jones is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-9-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Jones saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Deleon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was Deleon's first of the season.

Jones' record is now 5-10-1. As for Calhoun, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-10-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Jones will take on rival Ingleside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Calhoun is set to face off against their familiar foe Rockport-Fulton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
