Basketball Recap: Waller Takes a Loss

Waller played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Cypress Springs Panthers and fell 93-26. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-16.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Maleyah Caldwell and Jayana Phillips, who each put up five points. Hailey Angelo-Miller held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Cypress Springs' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ayla Mcdowell, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 12 rebounds. Mcdowell's afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tamiah Harrison, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 steals.

Waller has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-17 record this season. As for Cypress Springs, they pushed their record up to 26-3 with the win, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.

Waller will welcome Cypress Park at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Waller is facing Cypress Park at the right time seeing as Cypress Park is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Cypress Springs, they will venture away from home to square off against Cypress Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cypress Springs knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Cypress Lakes likes a good challenge.
