Baseball Game Preview: Cassopolis Rangers vs. Comstock Colts

The Cassopolis Rangers will head out on the road to face off against the Comstock Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cassopolis has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Cassopolis and Centreville meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Rangers came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 13-1.

Cassopolis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devyn Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Decatur hit Comstock with a nine-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Colts lost 11-0 to the Raiders. The Colts haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Comstock's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Cassopolis, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-4.

Comstock's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cassopolis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378. It's a different story for Comstock, though, as they've only averaged .246. Will they be able to contain Cassopolis' hitters?

Cassopolis took their victory against Comstock in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-9 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rangers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
