Basketball Game Preview: Charleston Math & Science Riptide vs. Academic Magnet Raptors

Charleston Math & Science has gone 8-2 against Academic Magnet recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Riptide will be home for the holidays to greet the Raptors at 7:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Charleston Math & Science has three straight victories, Academic Magnet has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Charleston Math & Science not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 13th (when they won 94-29). They blew past Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics 65-37. With that win, the Riptide brought their scoring average up to 51 points per game.

Charleston Math & Science's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Haasawn Todd, who posted 23 points and four steals. Those 23 points gave Todd a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion King, who scored 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists.

Charleston Math & Science was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They are a perfect 6-0 when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, Academic Magnet came up short against Charleston Collegiate on Wednesday and fell 69-56. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), the Raptors still had to take the loss.

Charleston Math & Science's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Academic Magnet, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Charleston Math & Science didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Academic Magnet in their previous matchup on Friday, but they still walked away with a 61-55 win.
