Softball Recap: Northgate Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Northgate had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Gridley Bulldogs. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Ashley Herman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Alfonso, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Stella Hanko was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Northgate, bringing their record up to 14-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Gridley, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 19-6 record.

As of now, neither Northgate nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
