Softball Recap: Nordhoff Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hueneme, Nordhoff was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Channel Islands Raiders with a sharp 16-7 victory. The win continues a trend for the Rangers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won eight in a row.

Jade Aguilar and Cadence Renshaw made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Aguilar tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, Renshaw pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those hits were Aguilar's first of the season. At bat, Aguilar scored a run while going 3-for-5, while Renshaw went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Jackson, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Breanna Ruiz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Nordhoff kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Nordhoff's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Channel Islands, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
