Softball Recap: Nixon Gets the Win

Nixon's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Cigarroa Toros by a score of 8-3. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Toros recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Valeria Lara spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Emily Escamilla and Makayla Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Escamilla went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, while Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Yaritza Ramos was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Nixon's victory bumped their record up to 17-14. As for Cigarroa, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season.
