Baseball Recap: Wellston's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Wellston had lost six games straight , but after bumping their record up to 5-18 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Luther Lions by a score of 9-6. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Lions back in March, they had to take a 9-2 loss.

As for Luther, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

For Luther's part, Bo Browning and Esteban C were huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, Browning tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, C pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Browning also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Luther is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-10 otherwise. At bat, Browning went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while C went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Brady Roy was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Shea Curtis, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wellston will head out to take on Carney at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Luther, they will venture away from home to square off against Davenport at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
