Preview: Winfield Generals vs. Ripley Vikings
The Winfield Generals will head out on the road to take on the Ripley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Winfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Winfield came up short against Sissonville and fell 44-35.
Despite their loss, Winfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brooklyn Cole, who scored three points along with five rebounds and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Sayre, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Ripley lost to Chapmanville Regional on the road by a decisive 51-37 margin on Monday. Ripley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Winfield has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Ripley, they dropped their record down to 7-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Winfield beat Ripley 42-30 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Winfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
