Preview: Valley View Tigers vs. Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots
Valley View is 0-5 against Mission Veterans Memorial since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Valley View Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Valley View earned a 16-7 win over Edcouch-Elsa. The victory was just what Valley View needed coming off of a 58-0 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Mission Veterans Memorial waltzed into Friday's game with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Roma and snuck past 38-35. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Braden Luedeker was his usual excellent self, rushing for 162 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 240 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes. Abel Lucio did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 118 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Valley View's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-7. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Valley View was taken down by Mission Veterans Memorial 59-14 when the teams last played back in September of 2021. Can Valley View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
