Softball Recap: Escalon Comes Up Short

Escalon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 9-4 to the Hughson Huskies. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Escalon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Babasa, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Babasa has posted since back in May of 2024. Aniston Hunt also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Escalon's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Hughson, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Escalon will head out to face off against Orestimba at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hughson, they will venture away from home to take on Pitman at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Hughson's pitchers better be ready for this one: Pitman has averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
