Basketball Recap: Irwin County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Irwin County had lost six straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped down to 6-15 to make it seven. They had to suffer through a 69-27 loss at the hands of the Brooks County Trojans. Having soared to a lofty 57 points in the game before, the Indians couldn't push the score so high this time.

Irwin County's loss came despite strong showings from Austin Burton and Anterrio Wilcox. Burton posted 11 points in addition to six boards and four steals, while Wilcox went 7-for-12 to rack up 14 points and six rebounds. Burton has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played.

As for Brooks County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 26 points or more this season.

Colten Gosier was his usual excellent self, shooting 62% from the field en route to 18 points along with six boards and five steals. The last time his field goal percentage was this high was back in January of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Berrien, who went 7-for-8 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Irwin County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 84-58 loss against Turner County on the 3rd. As for Brooks County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 57-51 victory against Atkinson County on the 3rd.
