Volleyball Game Preview: Elkton/Lake Benton Elks vs. St. Mary Cardinals

Elkton/Lake Benton is a perfect 10-0 against St. Mary since September of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Elks will take on the Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Elkton/Lake Benton turned things around against Deuel on Tuesday. They blew past the Cardinals 3-0.

Elkton/Lake Benton not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Deuel between 16 and 17 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-16.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday St. Mary sidestepped DeSmet for a 3-2 win. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

St. Mary had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 19-25, 27-25, 25-15, 15-9.

Elkton/Lake Benton's record now sits at 7-13. As for St. Mary, their record is now 15-6.

Elkton/Lake Benton skirted past St. Mary 3-2 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Elks since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
