Baseball Game Preview: St. Edward Green Wave vs. Chicago Hope Academy

The St. Edward Green Wave will head out to challenge Chicago Hope Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Edward comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Things were looking good for St. Edward after they put the first runs on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Larkin, falling 11-5.

St. Edward got a good showing from Roman Quezada, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Quezada has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Zach Wojtas was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Michael Cones was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Chicago Hope Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Brother Rice on Saturday and fell 4-3.

Jorge Matos Jr. made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Chicago Hope Academy has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for St. Edward, their record now sits at 0-10.

St. Edward might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Chicago Hope Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Green Wave avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
