Recap: Central Valley Cougars vs. Pleasanton Bulldogs

If the Central Valley Cougars were feeling good off their 58-16 takedown of the St. Edward Beavers last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Central Valley suffered a tough 52-29 defeat at the hands of Pleasanton on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Central Valley of the 71-36 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maddie Clark, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds. Clark is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Butcher, who scored six points.

Natalie Rasmussen continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pleasanton, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Tyra Sekutera, who scored 12 points.

Central Valley's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Pleasanton, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.

Central Valley will look to defend their home court on Friday against Twin Loup at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Central Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Tuesday. As for Pleasanton, they will head out on the road to challenge Loomis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pleasanton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
