Lee Williams had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 6-9 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the Flagstaff Eagles 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Volunteers have posted since March 25, 2025.
Aivree Austin (2028) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sami Marshal (2026)- Dakota Wesleya, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Bills (2027), who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
As for Flagstaff, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 16-5. Their loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
On Flagstaff's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Cailee Culwell gave up four earned runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks.
