Basketball Recap: Excelsior Classical Academy Comes Up Short

Excelsior Classical Academy played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Voyager Academy Vikings, falling 83-59. The Flying Lions haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the loss, Excelsior Classical Academy still got an impressive performance from Hunter Goss, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards. Goss is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in each of the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Hill, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Excelsior Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Voyager Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Manny Pullium led the charge by going 7-for-12 on his way to 17 points along with six assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Carlos Green, who went 5-for-7 en route to 12 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Excelsior Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Voyager Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Excelsior Classical Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 85-64 loss against Vance Charter on the 7th. As for Voyager Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 80-55 victory against Henderson Collegiate on the 7th.
