Basketball Game Preview: Wellston Golden Rockets vs. Vinton County Vikings

Wellston is 1-9 against Vinton County since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wellston Golden Rockets will be playing at home against the Vinton County Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Wellston is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They fell 54-41 to Nelsonville-York.

Meanwhile, Vinton County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 62-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chillicothe.

Vinton County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Wellston, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Wellston took a serious blow against Vinton County in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 68-40. Can Wellston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
