Softball Recap: Neshannock Takes Down South Williamsport in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Neshannock had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the South Williamsport Mountaineers on Thursday. The victory was just business as usual for the Lancers, who after 26 games remain undefeated this season.

Addy Frye was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.

In other batting news, Gabby Quinn was excellent, going 1-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Brenna Frengel was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Neshannock's record is now 26-0. As for South Williamsport, they moved to 18-6 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Neshannock nor the Mountaineers have any future games scheduled.
