Soccer Recap: Johns Creek Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Johns Creek kept a clean sheet against Brunswick on Thursday. They came out on top against the Brunswick Pirates by a score of 2-0. Given the Gladiators' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Pirates are ranked 302nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Edden Gitman and Soma Iwaki scored both of Johns Creek's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

The victory made it two in a row for Johns Creek and bumps their season record up to 11-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two games. As for Brunswick, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coming up, Johns Creek will head out to take on Heritage at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday. As for Brunswick, they will take on Mount Pisgah Christian in a tournament on Friday. Brunswick will be up against Mount Pisgah Christian's rather soft defense (which has allowed 5.14 goals per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
