Basketball Game Preview: Everglades Prep Academy Panther vs. Somerset Academy South Homestead Hurricanes

The Everglades Prep Academy Panther will venture away from home to square off against the Somerset Academy South Homestead Hurricanes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Wednesday, Everglades Prep Academy had to suffer through a 85-31 loss at the hands of Keys Gate. The Panther have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Somerset Academy South Homestead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were dealt an 88-36 defeat at the hands of Homestead. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 754th, while the Broncos are ranked 275th).

Everglades Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Somerset Academy South Homestead, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Everglades Prep Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Somerset Academy South Homestead in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 63-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Everglades Prep Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
