Softball Recap: Malden Green Wave vs. Senath-Hornersville Lions

After losing to Senath-Hornersville the last time they met, Malden decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Malden Green Wave walked away with an 11-6 win over the Senath-Hornersville Lions on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Malden.

Alyssa Broom was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. Broom has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in five consecutive pitching appearances. Broom was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and a double.

In other batting news, Malden got a massive performance out of Allison Perry, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Lexis Malone was another key contributor, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, a triple, and two RBI.

Malden's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-15. As for Senath-Hornersville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7-1.

Malden didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 defeat vs. Kennett on the 23rd. As for Senath-Hornersville, they will play host again on Thursday to welcome Dexter, where first pitch is scheduled at 4:30 p.m.
