Softball Game Preview: Murdock Blue Devils vs. Montachusett RVT Bulldogs

The Murdock Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Montachusett RVT Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Murdock took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Prouty, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Panthers 6-4. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Blue Devils as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Kassandra Santos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madelyn Santos, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Bauver, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montachusett RVT). They were the clear victors by a 22-7 margin over Bay Path RVT on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won four games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Murdock's record now sits at 2-13. As for Montachusett RVT, their record is now 8-4.

Murdock skirted past Montachusett RVT 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
