Softball Recap: Durango Demons vs. Montrose Red Hawks
Durango was the 8-7 winner over Montrose when they last played one another back in August of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Durango Demons lost 18-12 to the Montrose Red Hawks on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (11), the Demons still had to take the loss.
Avery Clair was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in four or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Casias, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Durango was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .405 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Durango's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Montrose, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.
