Cardinal Newman won against King's Academy last Friday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Cardinal Newman Crusaders walked away with a 6-2 win over the Western Wildcats. The victory was familiar territory for the Crusaders, who have now won nine matchups in a row.

Max Gonzalez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Finn Duran, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Carl Calixte also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Cardinal Newman pushed their record up to 9-0-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Western, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Cardinal Newman will challenge DeLand at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cardinal Newman's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so DeLand's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Western, they will square off against Deerfield Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
