Baseball Recap: St. Vincent Takes a Loss

St. Vincent extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-11 in the process. They lost 9-0 to the Oak Ridge Blue Jays. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Jays apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Oak Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

For Oak Ridge's part, the result came thanks to Cohen Hahs's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. Hahs has become a key player for the Blue Jays: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 6-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Noah Engler, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Landon Burnett was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Coming up, St. Vincent will venture away from home to square off against Meadow Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Oak Ridge, they will be playing at home against Dexter at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Jays' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bearcats have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
