Softball Game Preview: Spaulding Crimson Tide vs. U-32 Raiders

Spaulding is 7-2 against U-32 since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Crimson Tide are taking a road trip to square off against the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, Spaulding made easy work of Lamoille and carried off a 17-10 victory. The win continues a trend for the Crimson Tide in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, U-32 got the win against Harwood on Thursday by a conclusive 19-2. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Mya Gould was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Pulsifer, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those home runs marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Zofia Willis, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI and two runs.

U-32 was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harwood only posted a batting average of .211.

Spaulding's record now sits at 5-6. As for U-32, their record is now 7-3.

Spaulding couldn't quite finish off U-32 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 12-10. Can the Crimson Tide avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
