Preview: Fillmore Flashes vs. Cerritos Dons

The Fillmore Flashes will be playing at home against the Cerritos Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Fillmore sitting on six straight wins and Cerritos on three.

Last Friday, Fillmore's game was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 35-28 win over Hueneme.

Anthony Tafoya was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. David Jimenez was another key contributor, rushing for 62 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.

Meanwhile, Cerritos put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 55-0 victory over Pioneer.

Cerritos can attribute much of their success to Dikshanta Adhikari, who rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Adhikari's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Sagun, who threw for 65 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.

Their wins bumped Fillmore to 7-3 and Cerritos to 5-5.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Fillmore has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 192 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cerritos struggles in that department as they've been averaging 163 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
