Basketball Recap: Evergreen Cougars vs. Wheat Ridge Farmers

The Evergreen Cougars waltzed into their game on Wednesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They really took it to Wheat Ridge for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-14 win at home. That 43 point margin sets a new team best for Evergreen this season.

Taylor Bailey was a one-man wrecking crew for Evergreen as she scored eight points along with seven steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Bailey posted two or more blocks. Tatum Buenning was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals and three blocks.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Wheat Ridge struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Evergreen racked up 13 assists.

Evergreen pushed their record up to 14-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Wheat Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, Evergreen and the Farmers will both be playing the Rams the next time they take the court. Evergreen will head out to face the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Farmers will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
