Softball Recap: Mohawk Comes Up Short

Mohawk dropped down to 9-2 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Hillsdale Falcons by a score of 12-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Warriors, who until this matchup were averaging 3.09 runs allowed.

Katie Woodland was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Mallory Brickner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

As for Hillsdale, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games.

On Hillsdale's side, Kennedy Fickes was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Fickes has posted since back in April of 2025. Ally Morgan also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Mohawk and Hillsdale should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Warriors (ranked 78th) will meet Carey (ranked 403rd) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hillsdale will take on Chippewa at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (81 vs. 600).
