Football Recap: Bowman Academy Comes Up Short

Bowman Academy extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-3. They had to suffer through a 52-16 loss at the hands of the Calumet New Tech Warriors. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in August of 2022.

Quentavious Fly and Raymond Forte certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Fly gained 160 total yards and two touchdowns, while Forte rushed for 74 yards on only nine carries. Fly's longest reception was for an impressive 58 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.

Bowman Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Fly and King Whisenton. Another thorn in Calumet New Tech's side was Nathaniel Artest, who picked up two sacks and made 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

As for Calumet New Tech, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 40.4 points this season.

Bryce Brandon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 304 yards and six scores while picking up 13.2 yards per carry. Brandon is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 104 every time he's taken the field this season.

Bowman Academy has already played their next contest, a 30-0 victory against North White on the 26th. As for Calumet New Tech, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 59-7 win against Whiting on the 26th.
