Baseball Recap: Durango Extends Winning Streak to Three

After losing to Montezuma-Cortez the last time they met, Durango decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Demons walked away with a 7-4 win over the Panthers on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Demons, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Sam Clark tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Durango saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landin Padilla, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Dawson McInnes also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Durango's record now sits at 5-3. As for Montezuma-Cortez, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3.

Coming up, Durango will look to defend their home field on Friday against Grand Junction Central at 3:00 p.m. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Demons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Montezuma-Cortez, they will head out to take on San Juan at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
