Baseball Game Preview: Trinity Prep Lions vs. Covington Academy Bulldogs

Trinity Prep is 0-7 against Covington Academy since April of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Trinity Prep Lions will face off against the Covington Academy Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Trinity Prep is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Peachtree Academy.

Samuel Shoemaker was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also put up three RBI, which were his first of the season. Levi Barrelle was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Covington Academy fell victim to Young Americans Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to the Eagles. The Bulldogs just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

Covington Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Lowery, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Covington Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Trinity Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Trinity Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Covington Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Trinity Prep came up short against Covington Academy when the teams last played back in February, falling 12-9. Can Trinity Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
