Softball Recap: Bishop Brossart Gets the Win

Bishop Brossart won the last time they faced Gallatin County and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Wildcats 3-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Anna Bezold spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Bishop Brossart's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cayce Merkley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Bishop Brossart's victory bumped their record up to 18-11. As for Gallatin County, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 18-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Brossart will head out to take on Boone County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gallatin County, they will venture away from home to challenge Walton-Verona at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
