Tappan Zee proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Sunday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Pearl River Pirates 3-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Dutchmen, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Tappan Zee's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Pearl River, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Coming up, Tappan Zee will be playing in front of their home fans against Nyack at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pearl River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
