Softball Recap: Fernandina Beach Takes Down Raines in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Fernandina Beach walked away with it. They never let the Raines Vikings get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their two-run performance the game before.

Isabella Bishop was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Bishop was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Murallo, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Bland, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Fernandina Beach hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Fernandina Beach's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Raines, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Looking ahead, Fernandina Beach will take on Paxon School For Advanced Studies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight. Raines does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
