Basketball Recap: Princeton Takes a Loss

Princeton extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They fell 62-49 to the Union Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-38 two weeks ago.

As for Union, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Leading Union to victory were Zadariyah Faison and Centavia Mckoy. Faison posted 27 points and four steals, while Mckoy had 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mckoy has scored at least a third of the Spartans' points. Another player making a difference was Makayla Hall, who put up seven points along with 13 boards and four blocks.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Princeton will head out to take on South Johnston at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' defense better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 50.8 points per game this season. As for Union, they will challenge Spring Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
