Soccer Game Preview: Grossmont vs. Valhalla

The Grossmont Foothillers are taking a road trip to challenge the Valhalla Norsemen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grossmont is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Grossmont and El Capitan had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Foothillers came out on top against the Vaqueros by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. Given Grossmont's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 68th, while El Capitan are ranked 951st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Valhalla didn't have quite enough to beat Mount Miguel on Thursday and fell 2-1.

Valhalla's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11-1. As for Grossmont, their win bumped their record up to 15-1-1.

Grossmont came out on top in a nail-biter against Valhalla in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Foothillers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
