Basketball Recap: Billingsley Comes Up Short

Billingsley came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were dealt a 74-46 loss at the hands of the Thorsby Rebels. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 58-36 to the Rebels when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Billingsley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Dequavion Ray dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Kalvin Thomas was another key player, putting up eight points and six boards.

Billingsley's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Billingsley is taking a road trip to take on Jemison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Thorsby, they will host Westminster School at Oak Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
