Volleyball Recap: Salida Wins Going Away Against James Irwin + How To Watch

Salida won the last time they faced James Irwin and things went their way on Thursday too. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Jaguars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Salida never let James Irwin on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-22, 25-7.

Salida had a senior duo take command as Madisyn Wilcox had four digs and four aces and Cooper Fisher had five digs and three aces. Wilcox has been hot for a while, having also posted 13 or more assists the last ten times she's played.

Salida was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in eight consecutive matches.

Despite the defeat, James Irwin saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lilliana Vanasse had six digs and two aces.

Salida's record now sits at 10-6. As for James Irwin, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
