Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Mount Juliet's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Mount Juliet was not the first on the board on Saturday, but they got there more often. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Trigg County Wildcats 6-4.

Jewel Hale spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brookelynn Aldridge, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chloe Younggren, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Aldridge wasn't the only one making solid contact: Mount Juliet kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 13 consecutive contests.

Mount Juliet has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Trigg County, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Juliet will head out to face off against Gallatin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Trigg County, they will square off against Muhlenberg County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.63 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
