Basketball Preview: Jefferson County Warriors vs. Dublin Fighting Irish

Jefferson County is 0-8 against the Fighting Irish since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Jefferson County Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Dublin Fighting Irish at 6:00 p.m. Jefferson County is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.

On Saturday, Jefferson County had to suffer through a rough 59-32 loss at the hands of the Gamecocks. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jefferson County in their matchups with the Gamecocks: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the defeat, Jefferson County saw an underclassman step up: Jaelissia Reeves dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Reeves scored 15 or more points.

Meanwhile, Dublin came up short against the Royals on Tuesday and fell 44-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Dublin has scored all season.

Despite the loss, Dublin had strong showings from Nahallie Turnley, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Tahara Diallo, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Jefferson County dropped their record down to 0-20 with that loss, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Dublin, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-6.

Jefferson County was taken down by the Fighting Irish 65-20 in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Turnley, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Now that Jefferson County knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
