Basketball Recap: Centennial Skates Past Gadsden with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Centennial's strategy against Gadsden on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Centennial Hawks blew the Gadsden Panthers out of the water with a 53-23 final score. For the Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 35-32 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Centennial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joy Hunt led the charge by putting up eight points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards Hunt has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Avellana Vigil-Villalobos, who posted nine points.

Centennial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Centennial is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-11 record this season. As for Gadsden, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.

Centennial will head out to take on Organ Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Organ Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last six games. As for Gadsden, they will welcome Mayfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mayfield will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Gadsden surely won't give up without a fight.
