Basketball Recap: Skyline Falls Despite Big Games from Leelu Bare and Ashley Price

It was a Battle of the Birds when Skyline challenged Alta on Tuesday. The Skyline Eagles received a blow as they fell 62-47 to the Alta Hawks. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the loss, Skyline had strong showings from Ashley Price, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 15 points in addition to six boards and five assists, and Leelu Bare, who posted 12 points and four steals. Those 15 points gave Price a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Johnson, who had six points.

Quincy Kegel continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Alta, going 11 of 23 on her way to 25 points along with seven boards and four steals. Alia Baldassano was another key player, putting up 13 points along with six assists and five boards.

Skyline's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Alta, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Skyline will take on East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Skyline is facing East at the right time seeing as East is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Alta, they will face off against West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully Alta likes a good challenge.
