Softball Recap: Bennett Find Success

Bennett made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Wicomico, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Clippers blew past the Indians 17-4 on Tuesday. This was payback for the Clippers, who suffered an 18-7 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kylie Hammond made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Hammond was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, Cadence Williams and McKenna Bunting did most of the damage at the plate: Williams went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Bunting went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Alaina Magee was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.

Bennett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wicomico only posted a batting average of .241.

Bennett's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Wicomico, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Bennett will face off against Pocomoke on Tuesday. As for Wicomico, they will welcome Chincoteague at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
