Basketball Recap: Porter Comes Up Short

Porter suffered their biggest defeat since November 25th on Monday. They had to suffer through a 71-39 loss at the hands of the George Ranch Longhorns. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 829th, while the Longhorns are ranked 304th).

Porter has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.4 points over those games. As for George Ranch, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.

Porter will wrap up 2025 with a road trip to face off against Hamshire-Fannett at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans will be up against the Longhorns' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.53 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for George Ranch, they will finish 2025 at home by hosting Paetow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
