Baseball Recap: Weston Triumphs

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Weston and Waltham, and Weston kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats walked away with an 8-3 win over the Hawks on Monday. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 5-2 victory the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Ryan Hinckley made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Hinckley was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Aidan Murphy was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Ryuji Nawa was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Weston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Weston's record is now 5-0. As for Waltham, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Coming up, Weston will head out on the road to face off against Boston Latin Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons' pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Waltham, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Boston Latin at 4:00 p.m. The last three games the Wolfpack have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
