Softball Recap: Joppa-Maple Grove Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Joppa-Maple Grove can now relate to. They lost 13-4 to the Carrier Mills-Stonefort Wildcats on Monday. The Rangers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Abigail Lang spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and nine unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bricley Lang was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two doubles. Kali Short was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Joppa-Maple Grove's record is now 3-7. As for Carrier Mills-Stonefort, the victory snapped their losing streak at 11 games and leaves them with a 2-14 record.

As of now, neither Joppa-Maple Grove nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
