Basketball Recap: Centennial Find Success

Centennial proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 32) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged the Corcoran Panthers out 75-72.

Michael Gutierrez was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 15 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points along with six assists and three steals. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Acen Zuniga, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

When it comes to explaining why Corcoran lost, don't look at Javon Bragg. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 31 points and 17 boards. With that strong performance, Bragg is now averaging an impressive 2.1 blocks per game. Another player making a difference was Ryan Turner, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 10 points.

Centennial's record now sits at 9-4. As for Corcoran, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season.

Centennial didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 95-49 victory against Edison on the 30th. As for Corcoran, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 79-62 win against Kerman on the 30th.
